Dan Smith, 92, of Akron, died Monday afternoon in the Panska Nursing home in Hawarden. He had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist church in Akron with Rev. Dan Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery at Akron.

Mr. Smith was born October 15, 1871, near Akron in Sioux Valley township, Union County.

He farmed north of Akron until 1947 when a tornado destroyed his farm home, killing a brother, U. D. Smith. At that time he moved to Akron and made his home with his sister, Mrs. Amy Agnes.

Survivors are two brothers, Fred and Jack of Akron, and three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Boden of Los Angeles, CA; Mrs. Daisy Peterson of Alcester and Mrs. Amy Agnes of Akron.
