Cornelius Smith was born in The Netherlands, Dec. 31, 1859. He was united in marriage to Teuntje Ver Doorn, Mar. 29, 1894. She preceded her husband in death in Jan. 6, 1925. Mr. Smith is survived by one daughter Emma, Mrs. Gerrit Koerselman and six grandchildren: Cornelius, Gary, Teuneva, Geraldine, Esther and Clifford Lee. One sister of the deceased, 86 years old, resides in The Netherlands. Mr. Smith was an upright citizen, a good husband and father and grandfather, and highly respect by all who knew him. His daughter and family who lived just across the road from him will miss him.

Funeral services wee held at the First Ref. Church at Middleburg Wednesday and he was laid to rest beside his wife, in the Middleburg cemetery. Rev. Manson had charge of the funeral.

Information from the other obit on November 5th: He died at the Hull hospital Monday morning, Nov. 2, after an illness of a little over two weeks. He suffered from heart trouble and entered the hospital October 16th. Funeral services were held Wednesday at his daughters home and the Middleburg church.
