Sioux Center News, June 27, 1963

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church here at 10 a.m., Friday for Chris Gesink, 62, prominent farmer of two miles east and 3/4 of a mile south of Sioux Center, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital at 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, following an illness of several weeks. He had undergone major surgery several weeks ago.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. B. J. Haan and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gesink was born January 23, 1901, at Maurice, Iowa, and resided all his life in this area. He had farmed southeast of Sioux Center for many years. He also had become widely known as a seed corn salesman.

Survivors besides his widow include three sons, Dr. Melvin Gesink of Denver, CO; Dr. Owen Gesink of Wayne, MI, and David, at home; four daughters, Eleanor (Mrs. John Vonk) of Rock Valley; Eunice (Mrs. Ted Van Bruggen) of Sioux Center; Frances (Mrs. Richard Baker) of Grand Rapids, MI; and Helen (Mrs. Duane Van Wyhe) of Ireton; two brothers, Gerritt Gesink of Sioux Center and Bert Gesink of Sheldon; three sisters, Minnie (Mrs. Ben DeJong) of Warsaw, IL; Christine Gesink of Sioux Center and Bertha (Mrs. Clarence Trilzenberg) of Evergreen Park, IL and 16 grandchildren.
