Sioux Center News, June 22, 1993

Marie Madeline Gesink, 79, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, June 16, at the Sioux Center Community Health Center.

Services were Monday, June 21, at 3 p.m., at First Christian Reformed Church, Sioux Center, with the Rev. P. Y. De Jong officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center.

The former Madeline Mouw was born November 29, 1913, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Ben B. & Henrietta L. (Ramaker) Mouw. She attended rural elementary school. She married Gerritt Gesink on December 29, 1938, in Sioux Center. Except for one year in Greene, they spent their married life in Sioux Center.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where she served as an organist and member of the Golden Hour Circle. She worked as a nursing assistant at the Sioux Center Community Hospital and Health Center.

Survivors include her husband; five children, Donald of Denver, CO; Heddy Saxon, also of Denver; Paul of Baldwin City, KS; Benjamin of London, Ontario, Canada, and Gary M. of Sioux Center; four brothers, Lawrence Mouw and Peter Mouw both of Sioux Center; Harold Mouw of Rochester, MN, and Orvin Mouw of Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Berniece) Rozeboom and Mrs. Verne (Faye) Huisman, both of Sioux Center; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Steve and Calvin.
