Everist P. Hansen
Everist P. Hansen, 70, of Granville, died Friday, November 13, 1992, at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center after a brief illness. Services were Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, with the Rev. Clem Currans officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen handled the arrangements.

Mr. Hansen was born October 26,1922, in rural Alton, Iowa, son of Nic S. and Margaret (Klein) Hansen. He grew up and attended school in the Alton area, graduating from St. Mary's Academy, Alton, in 1940. He farmed with his father. He married Mary Klemish January 31,1951, at Salix, Iowa. They farmed near Granville until retiring in 1986. They moved into Granville in 1989. He moved to the care center October 28 of this year.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and director of the church's choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 48 years and a charter member of the Granville Council 3810. He was a member of the Coalition to Preserve Family Farms of the Sioux City Diocese in Catholic Rural Life, and a sales representative of Crow's Hybrid Corn Company. He was a past clerk of Meadow Township and a past member of the Plymouth County ASCS Township Committee.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, four are married and one is engaged, Roselyne and Thomas Schlesser of Sioux City, Marilyn and Kenneth Schmitt of Remsen, Iowa, Lori and Benedict Clements of Arlington, VA, Joleen and Robert Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Christin Hansen, still at home, and her fiance Mark Konz of Hospers; two sons and their wives, David E. and Linda of Alton and Thomas L. and Jeanne of Granville; 14 grandchildren and a great grandson; three sisters, Miss Florence Hansen, Miss Frances Hansen and Mrs. Leo (Luella)Henrich, all of Alton, and a brother, Nic of Alton. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Cordelia; three brothers, Joe, Alfred and Sylvester. Pallbearers were his nephews.
