Thursday noon of last week the friends and relatives of Mrs. Klaas Spykerman were called upon to mourn her death which came suddenly and was caused by heart failure. The burial services were conducted from the Presbyterian church last Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Spykerman was sixty six years of age and was born in the Netherlands September twenty fourth 1840. The family came to America many years ago and have made their home in this locality. Several children and a husband survive the mother who has been called from us.

(From the marriage record Netherlands – Klaas Spykerman 31 years born at Staphorst Overijssel, Netherlands married 16 March 1867 at Staphorst to Aaltje Roo age 26 born Staphorst to Evert Roo and Geesje Kuiers. In the 1885 Iowa census of Floyd tsp Sioux Co. Iowa Klaas was 49, Alice was 44, children were John, Evert, Gerrit and Katie.)
