Gone to Her Reward

Again the messenger of death has come to this community; on Wednesday morning last, Mrs. Perintha Davis, after an exceptionally long and useful life, entered into her eternal rest. Parintha Lawrence was born in Middlesex county, Mass., January 18, 1804. In 1828, she was married to James Davis at Peppersell, Mass.; she was the mother of nine children. In 1840 they emigrated to Illinois, making the distance by team. James Davis died in November 1887. In the fall of 1884 she moved to Rock Valley, where she has since resided. Her husband and three sons served in the Union army; one son was afterwards drafted. Three sons were killed in battle. Of the nine children, four survive her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. S. Jory; after which the remains were taken to Janesville, Iowa, for interment.
