Alton Democrat of Dec 7, 1895
A very sad Thanksgiving transpired at the home of John Van Diepen. While his wife was taking care of her sister, Mrs. K, Van Diepen, who is dangerously ill, she dropped dead on the bedside of her sick sister. The whole community was shocked and everyone sympathizes with the bereaved family.
