Into The Life Beyond.
HAZLETT--On August 24, 1897 [i.e., 1898]. Mrs. Mary Hazlett died at her home in Sioux Township Wednesday August 24 1898, aged 58 years.

The deceased was born in the year 1840 and came to this country with her parents when about seven years old. At the age of 17 she married [?]. E. Hazlett [first initial obscured] in Maryland where they lived until 28 years ago this month when they came west and homesteaded the farm upon which she spent the remainder of her life and died. Ten children were born to herself and husband nine of whom are living and were present at the funeral. Her husband had preceded her in leaving this world of trouble and unhappiness some six years. The lady was one of the earliest of the brave pioneers who started the civilization of this part of the country and along with the others faced many dangers and underwent many privations. Her neighbors held her in high esteem as was shown by the large number who came some of them from long distances to attend the funeral which was held Thursday. Rev. Geo. S. Evans of the Congregational church at Hudson conducted the services. The body was taken to the Beloit cemetery for interment and laid to rest alongside the husband and s[obscured]. The Bee extends its sympathy to the bereaved sons and daughters.

The deceased has been very ill ever since early in the spring and it was thought several times that she could not survive her awful sufferings, but she lingered on until Wednesday morning, when her spirit took flight to a better land.
