Mrs. Sam Buffington's Death.

Early Monday morning occurred the death of Mrs. Sam Buffington from inflammation of the bowels. She was a young woman in the prime of her life being aged only twenty-two years. Everyone who was acquainted with her became her friend. Her husband will mourn a kind loving wife; two children, a good mother and many others a true sympathetic friend. The funeral was held from the home Tuesday afternoon. To the bereaved relatives we extend our heartfelt condolence.

From the Alton Democrat of April 23, 1898: Rock Valley News:
Mrs. Sam Buffington living a few miles south of town, died on Monday of this week, having been ill only a few days. The interment took place on Wednesday.

(Neither of these obits gives her name. The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Samuel W. Buffington, b. 1872 d. 1945, Valley View Cem Rock Valley, but no female Buffington dying in 1898 is listed.)
