John C. Pearson
John Clair "Swede" Pearson, 71, Hawarden, died Friday, Dec. 23, at the Hawarden hospital after a brief illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, in the Dow Funeral Home. Harvey Nohava officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Bennett, Wendall Nilson, Bryan Nohava, Les Kratochvil, Howard Van Engen and Jeff Nohava.

Mr. Pearson was born Nov. 7, 1912, in Sioux County near Hawarden. He married Donna Milliken July 4, 1935, at Yankton, SD. They lived in the Beresford, SD, area before moving to Hawarden in 1943. He was a farm laborer for many years. For the last 10 years, he was a yard man at the Hawarden Sales Co.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Robert, Alexandria, VA, Larry, Riverside, CA, Kenneth, Rancho Cordova, CA, and Richard, Sacramento, CA; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl, Mission Viejo, CA, and Paul, Sioux City.
