Herbert "Bus" Day, 60, of Ireton died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1983, in a nursing home in Alcester, SD, after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, in the Dow Funeral Home in Ireton. The Rev. Paul Sieveking officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Feldhacker, Robert Ping, Bill Eilts, Robert Brown, Donald Schlueter and Alfred Skogman.

Mr. Day was born Sept. 12, 1923, at Spencer, SD. He moved to Ireton from South Dakota in 1924 and graduated from Ireton High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1955, he moved to California, returning to Ireton in 1970. Mr. Day was a member of the Ireton American Legion.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth of Garden Grove, CA; his mother, Velma Day of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. William (Carol) Wangen of Long Beach, CA, and Mrs. Marvin (Wanda) Schmidt of Ireton and one granddaughter.
