From the Sioux County Bee and Rock Valley Register, October 28, 1897:

Mrs. A. Thomas died at her home in Doon Tuesday [October 24] of consumption. The remains were brought to Rock Valley Wednesday where Father Phelan pronounced the last sad rites. The deceased was a sister of John Hayden of this city. All join in extending sympathy to him and other relatives in their bereavement.
