Alice E. Younie, 90, of Hawarden died Saturday, Nov. 5,1983, in a nursing home in Hawarden: Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the Associated Church. The Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, in the Dow Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Charles Lausen, Dick Swift, Wilbur Bos, Jerald Schneider, William Edmunds and Dave Gearhart.

Mrs. Younie, the former Alice Haines, was born Feb. 6, 1893, in Hawarden. She married Russell Younie Dec. 8,1915, at Hawarden. He died March 8, 1982.She was a member of the Associated Church where she was pianist for 25 years and superintendent of the Sunday school primary department for 25 years. She was a charter member of Entre Nous of the church, 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Florence Larson of Hawarden; two grandchildren, Mrs. Dick (Lucky Lee) Heuer of Ireton and Russ Larson of Hawarden, and nine great grandchildren.
