Earl C. "Wally" Walrod, 89, of Hawarden died Friday, July 22,1983, at alocal hospital. Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. The Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was at the Correctionville Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Hirschman, Roger Shuff, Howard Janvrin, Bud Swartzbaugh, Don Leafstedt, and Richard Ball.

Mr. Walrod was born on June 2, 1894, near Beresford, SD, and moved to Hawarden with his parents at age six. He attended school in Hawarden and graduated from the Beauty Academy in Sioux City. He married Hilda Cohrt on July 15,1922, in Sioux City. They lived in Sioux City where he was a leading hair stylist at the Francois Beauty Salon for 20 years. They moved to Hawarden in 1947 where he owned and operated Wally's Beauty Salon for 30 years. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge of Hawarden and was an Army veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife of Alcester and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Leland (Edna) Steil of Sioux City.
