Sioux County Capital Oct 1, 1992

Violet M. Grubb, 97, of Sioux City, died Sept 23; 1992 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services were held Saturday at Nelson-Bergen Morningside Chapel. The Rev. John Ling of Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church officiated.

Mrs. Grubb was born Nov. 11, 1894 in Orange City, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Gregory) Toothman. She married John Grubb Dec. 14, 1911. The couple lived on a farm north of Kingsley most of their married life before retiring to Sioux City. He died April 15, 1970.

Mrs. Grubb was a member of Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church and the Women's Circle-of the church. She was a former 4-H leader.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Russell Grubb and Augusta, Harlan Grubb and Vivian and Vernon Grubb and Nancy, all of Kingsley; two daughters, Velma Jaacks of Kingsley and Inez Preston of Marceline, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Shirley (Pratt) Brown and a good friend, Lucille Kyle of Sioux City. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, two sons-in-law, George Jaacks and Vernon Preston; a sister, Lida (Toothman) Pratt and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Beelner) Grubb.

Memorials have been established in her name with Rustin Ave. United Methodist Church and the Kingsley Public Library.
