Wenzel Gruber, age 94, of Hospers died Friday, Oct. 10 at the Heritage House in Orange City.
Services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hospers. Rev. Thomas Hart officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Mr. Gruber was born April 4, 1892 at Metzling, Czechoslovakia, the son of John and Anna Gruber. He came to the United States in 1923 residing in Danbury. He married Elizabeth Steinbach on March 3, 1924 at Danbury. In-1933 they moved to Alton where he operated a meat market. They then moved to Hospers in 1942 where he resided for over 30 years, working as a meat cutter until retiring at the age of 65. Mrs. Gruber died April 29, 1970.

He entered the Heritage House at Orange City in March, 1984. Survivors include two sons, Carl
of Stockton, Calif., Roger of Sioux City and one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Anita) Pluim of Alton, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife and three sisters.

A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association of Iowa, 1321 Walnut St., Des Moines, Iowa 50309
