Mrs. Hamilton 89, Pioneer of City, Succumbs Funeral Services to be Held At Associated Church Friday Afternoon for Longtime Resident.

Mrs. Cynthia Hamilton, 89, a pioneer resident of Hawarden, died about 8:15 Tuesday evening in her sleep. Mrs. Hamilton who lives with her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Everitt Hamilton, suffered a heart attack early Monday morning.

Funeral services will be held at the Associated church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev. Noel Orcutt in. charge. Interment will be in Grace (Hill cemetery.

Cynthia Ann Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James V. and Jane Wikoff Price, was born May 10, 1857, near Meadville, Crawford county, Pa. She came to Iowa with her parents at the age of seven, locating at Cedar Falls. Here she attended the state normal for one year, being a member of the first class of that institution.

She came to Plymouth county at the age of 22 and taught school until her marriage. She was married to Irving J. Hamilton February 26, 1883, and except for two years in Missouri all her married life was in Plymouth and Sioux counties.

For many years the family lived on a farm just northeast of Hawarden and later she came to Hawarden to live. Her husband preceded her in death September 12, 1923, and one son James died May 8, 1940. She is survived by a son, Everitt Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton was a charter member of the Presbyterian church of Calliope. She was active and interested in church life until her 85th birthday.
