Mrs. Phoebe Parkinson died last Friday at the age of 43 years from cancer, at her residence north of town where she has resided for several years. She was the mother of four children, two boys and two girls, who survive her. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Somers of Doon and the interment took place in the Rock Valley cemetery.

The Lyons Weekly Mirror (page headings, Rock Rapids Review), February 27, 1896, news from Larchwood, notes that O. M. Parkinson and family returned Monday from Rock Valley, Iowa, where they had gone to attend the funeral services of Mr. Parkinson's sister-in-law.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Parkinson, Phoebe, b. 1853 d. 20 Feb. 1896 ss John, Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. The index also has Parkinson, John, 1853-1920, ss Phoebe, Valley View Cemetery.

However, the Rock Valley Register of March 13, 1896, notes that "Mr. and Mrs. John Parkinson are now citizens of Rock Valley," so it is possible that two different families are involved. No obituary for John Parkinson was found in an online search of Rock Valley newspapers for 1920.
