Neal Den Hartog, 64, of Hospers, died Wednesday, October 28, in a Sioux City Hospital.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Saturday in the Presbyterian Church in Hospers. Dr. Stuart Schimpf and the Rev. Richard Ries officiated. Burial was in the Hospers Cemetery. Family visitation was from 7:30 to 9 P.M. Friday in the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Mr. Den Hartog was born July 15, 1917, in Doon. He married Florence Niehaus January 14, 1938, in Canton, South Dakota. She died July 28, 1962. He married Jerry Kersten July 31, 1965 in Hospers. He operated Hosper’s Produce 22 years and was a gravel contractor for the last 11 years.

Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Dennis (LaNita) Van Roekel of Sheldon, Mrs. Ed (Donna) Hutchison of Bellflower, California, Mrs. Jon (Sandy) Welda of Fort Rucker, Alabama, and Mrs. Paul (Mary) Smit of Hospers; one son, Dennis of Fort Dodge, Iowa; his mother, Mrs. Herman Reit, Rock Valley,; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Steve (Suzie) Cartright, of Waterloo; one stepson, George Kersten of Hospers; two brothers, Dick and Melvin, both of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Dolly) Rehberg and Mrs. Ray (Louise) Crouse, both of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Clarence (Jean) Heidebrink of Hull; and 13 grandchildren.
