Dick Boeve, 85, Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3 at Christian Reformed Church, Rock Rapids, with Rev. Cliff Hoekstra officiating.

Interment was at Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids.

Dick Boeve was born Sept. 13, 1923 on a farm north of Hull, in Lyon County, Iowa. He was the son of John and Effie (Boeve) Boeve. He attended country school until the eighth grade and remained with his parents helping with the operation of the family farm.

He married Gertie Van Holland in Rock Valley on Jan. 19, 1949. Together they started farming near Rock Rapids for eight years, until moving to a farm northwest of Pipestone. There they continued to farm for the next 29 years. In 1985 they retired from farming and moved to their current home in Rock Rapids.

Dick was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids. He enjoyed being a farmr, traveling with his wife, playing card games, and spending time with family and fiends.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gertie Boeve, Rock Rapids; a brother Henry (Helen) Boeve, Rock Rapids and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Medema and Gert Brown; two brothers-in-law, Tony Medema and Loren Brown and a nephew, James Boeve.
