Minnie Den Hartog was born on July 15, 1921, in Newkirk, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Henrietta (Koster) Mouw. She lived her youth on a farm in the rural Sheldon, Hospers, and Newkirk, Iowa, areas. She attended a country school in rural Hospers.

She was united in marriage to Ben Den Hartog of Sheldon, Iowa, on July 25, 1947, at the Church of Christ in Sheldon. They lived in Sheldon where Minnie worked at L'Trio Grill and Urban's Café, where she loved to bake pies. She also worked at the hospital and Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. Ben passed away in 1982. Minnie retired in 1983, and moved to Jackson, Minnesota. In 2001, she moved to the Beehive in Sheldon, shortly there after she moved to Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon. She later moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Pipestone, Minnesota, and in April 2006, to the Good Samaritan Home in Jackson.

Minnie loved to be with her grandchildren spending time at Hardees and going to get groceries.

She was a former member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. She presently was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Minnesota, where she had served as a Deaconess. Minnie enjoyed sharing her faith with music by playing the guitar, piano and accordion. She passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Home in Jackson, Minnesota.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Benson W. and Joyce Den Hartog of Estherville, IA, and their children: Andrea and Brad Lory of Rochester, MN; Aaron and Callie Den Hartog of New Prague, MN; Adam Den Hartog (U.S. Air Force) of San Antonio, TX; Marcia Kuenne of Medford, WI, and her children: Kyle and Kristi Potter of Pierre, SD; Kurt and Dawn Potter and their children: Emma and Kane of Jackson, MN; Kari Potter of Lindstrom, MN; one brother: Dick Mouw of Murrieta, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ben; six sisters and five brothers.
