G.W. ROZEBOOM,PROMINENT SIOUX CENTER FARMER PASSED AWAY

G.W. Rozeboom passed away at the age of 57 at his home 3 miles southwest of Sioux Center late last Friday evening. He had been ill for the past year with cancer of the stomach, but was up and about until the past few weeks. The funeral was held Monday from the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Rev. J.M. Dykstra officiated, assisted by Rev. William Rotschaefer of Carmel, and Rev. A. Bliek of Fulton, Illinois.

Mr. Rozeboom was born on June 26, 1880 in Pella. In 1901 he married Mary Noteboom and they settled on a farm near Rock Valley. After 15 years they moved to Hull where he worked in the Bee Hive Store for a time and managed a service station. 13 years ago they moved to their farm northwest of Sioux Center where the family still resides.

Mr. Rozeboom was a quiet modest man of high principles and determined conviction. The respect of his neighbors and friends for his good character and judgment is reflected in the positions he held. In church life: at the time of his death he was an elder in the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center and Vice-president of the consistory and was active in Sunday school work; previously he had served on the church boards of his church in Rock Valley and Hull. In school work: at the time of his death he was a member of the board of trustees in West Branch township and treasurer of the township school funds, previously he had served on the board of the Hull Academy. In cooperatives: at the time of his death he was a member of the board of the Farmers Cooperative Society of Sioux Center.

Surviving Mr. G.W. Rozeboom are his wife, Mary and four sons, William G. of Rock Island, Illinois, Gerrit of Pella, John and Edward who are still at home. Brothers and sisters: William of Rock Valley, John of Edgerton, Tony and Richard of Sioux Center, Mrs. H.K. Pals of Meservey, Mrs. Peter Roskamp of Edgerton. Another sister, Mrs. L. Verduin died 17 years ago.
