Funeral services for Lawrence Grau, 71, of Melvin were held October 3, at 1 P.M. at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin. Pastor Dale Jenson officiated and burial was in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Alvord under the direction of the Sanborn Funeral Home Service.

Lawrence died October 1 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born in Sioux County on January 21, 1915 to Paul and Emma (Yunker) Grau. He was united in marriage to Vera Moeller at Alvord. Following their marriage they farmed in the Alvord area until moving to Melvin in 1948.

Mr. Grau is survived by his wife, Vera; children: Jacquelyn (Mrs. James) Johnston of Bloominton, MN; Joan (Mrs. Paul) Montague of Middleton, Wisconsin; and Joel of Melvin; six grandchildren and one brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Michael.
