Stephen H. De Vries, 88, of Orange City died Friday, August 13 at an Orange City Hospital.

Services were at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Revs. Thomas C. Vanden Heuvel and Michael Halcomb officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home. Visitation was from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. De Vries was born July 4, 1894, in Orange City. He married Cynthia Roghair on January 11, 1918, in Orange City. They farmed until 1929 when he established De Vries Transfer in Orange City. He operated that business until retiring in 1962. He and his wife also operated De Vries Interiors in Orange City until 1965. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Vera) Ver Steeg of New Brighton, Minnesota; a son, Harvey of Okoboji; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles H. of Orange City; two sisters, Gertrude Alders of Hull and Mrs. Cornelius (Claire) Pais of Orange City.
