Mrs. Cynthia De Vries, 86, of Orange City, passed away Monday, December 2, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, at 1:30 P.M. at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Thomas C. Vanden Heuvel and the Rev. Dr. Michael Halcomb will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 12:00 noon Thursday (today) at the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City with the family present from 7-8:30 P.M.

Cynthia was born August 20, 1899 at Orange City, the daughter of John Roghair and Gertrude Ketel Roghair. On January 11, 1918 she married Stephen H. De Vries at Orange City. They farmed near Orange City until 1929 when they moved into town. Mrs. De Vries established De Vries Interiors of Orange City which she operated until retiring in 1965. Mr. De Vries passed away August 13, 1982 at Orange City. In 1984 Mrs. De Vries became a resident of the nursing wing of the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and the church’s women’s organizations.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Harold (Vera) Ver Steeg, of New Brighton, Minnesota; a son, Harvey De Vries, of Okoboji and Baca Raton, Florida; three grandchildren, Dr. H. James Ver Steeg, Jr., Dr. Bruce A. Ver Steeg and Bonnie Halcomb; and six great-grandchildren.
