Mr. Oscar De Vries, 83, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 5, in the Orange City Hospital.

Services were held Monday, May 9 at 10:30 A.M. in the First Christian Reformed Church, Orange City. The Rev. Thomas C. Vanden Heuvel officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home.

Mr. De Vries was born December 5, 1899 at Maurice. He married Tracy Bouma on December 21, 1927 at Orange City. He was in the building trade in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before retirement in 1977. The couple moved to Orange City in August, 1982. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy; two sons, Stanley of Largo, Florida and Virgil of Lakewood, California; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Bette) Venhuizen of Sioux Center; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerrit of Sioux Center; and a sister, Mrs. Jake (Agnes) Huizenga of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma; a sister, Mrs. Anna Van Gelder and a brother, Charles.
