Alton Democrat of May 18, 1907

William Lyons of Alton who has been in the hospital at Cherokee for the past two and a half years died and was buried there last Tuesday. Deceased was a well known Alton carpenter and leaves a family here of a wife and six children. The authorities notified his family too late for them to get to Cherokee before the funeral. Deceased was born in Ohio forty five years ago as a railroader. He served as brakeman and fireman and conductor before he finally quit the road. He leaves four brothers and a sister in Ohio. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the family in their sad bereavement.

1900 census of Nassau tsp Sioux County listed William, Jennie and children Tracy, William, John, Charles, and George. 1910 census of Nassau Tsp. lists Jennie 44, children Wm. 18, Tracy 19, John 16, Charles 14, George 12, and Jennie 4. From the 1925 IA census it was found that the maiden name of Jennie was Dantema.)
