Alton Democrat of May 4, 1907

Last Monday morning at seven o'clock occurred the death of Meindert VanderPol at the home of his sister Mrs. H. Van Zandbergen of Newkirk vicinity. Deceased was about forty one years of age and had been sick a long time. He leaves one sister and four brothers. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Alton conducted by Rev. Schuurmans.

He would have been a great great uncle of Wilma. His parents were Atze Jorkes Vander Pol and Baukje Douwes Wiersma. The brothers and sister who came to the USA were Douwe, Auke, and sister Mrs. Soukje 'Susan' Hermanus van Zanbergen.)
