Mr. John Martin Sjaarda passed away Wed. in Sioux City at the age of forty-five years. He was born May 4, 1950 to John and Joyce (Dykshorn) Sjaarda at Le Mars. He grew up on the farm between Ireton and Sioux Center and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1968. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He was the office manager for Klein Trucking in Le Mars for 12 years, and more recently was a computer programmer for Schuster Trucking in Le Mars. He enjoyed being a member of the Sioux Sportsman Club and also really enjoying playing cards with his friends. Kidney dialysis was a necessary part of his life, but he loved the relationship he had with people at the Center.

Survivors include his father, John and step-mother, Gert Sjaarda, of Sioux Center; two brothers and one sister and their spouses; James and Marianne Sjaarda, Judson and Annette Sjaarda all of Ireton, and Joan and Mark Wieman of Algona, IA; four step-sisters and one step-brother and their spouses; Tyanne and Dennis Downing, Bonnie and Brian Ehrich all of Aurora, CO, Donna and Verlyn Zwart of Hawarden, Carla Anderson of Sioux City and Dale and Verla Smit of Orange City. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews, one grandnephew, and fourteen step-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Sjaarda, on Jan. 10, 1990. Blessed be his memory.
