Mr. Peter De Vries passed away at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Tuesday evening. He had reached the age of 80 years and two months. Mr. De Vries suffered a stroke early Sunday morning, from which he never recovered.

Mr. De Vries was united in marriage to Johanna Kleinwolterink on Feb. 4 1904 at Sioux Center. To this union eleven children were born: Johanna, Mrs. John De Beer of Alton; Arta, Mrs. William Huisman; Dena, Mrs. Clarence Jonker, both of Orange City; Bert, of Denver, CO;John of Minneapolis MN; Herman of Maurice; Hattie, Mrs. Ed De Groot of Denver, CO; Clarine, Mrs. Henry Westra of Sioux Center; Winnefred, Mrs. Marvin Van Muyden of Sioux Center; Wilhelmina, Mrs. Dick Fallow of Davenport; Peter Junior of Marysville, KS. One sister, Mrs. Arie Reekers of Orange City. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. One grandchild preceded him.

Mr. De Vries had completed 30 years as a County Supervisor on Jan. 2, of this year. He had acted as chairman of the board for the past few years. The community extended to him special recognition for his untiring service. He was also active in church when he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. His sudden passing is mourned by a host of relatives and friends.
