Johannes Markus died last Friday afternoon after a long and painful illness. On Wednesday he was seized with a stroke of paralysis and it was feared that death would follow immediately but he lingered until Friday.

Deceased was fifty three years of age and leaves his wife and two brothers Jake and Leen and four sisters Mrs. G. Brolsma, Mrs. S. Muilenburg, Mrs. J. H. Den Beste and Mrs. Jennie Markus. The funeral was held Monday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Stapelkamp.

(Johannes Markus was born 25 Mar 1854 Pella IA died 5 Apr 1901 Orange City. He was the son of Johannes Hendricus Markus 1821-1887 and Adrianna Bollaart 1826-1881. He married Antonia Kots born 1872 in 1895. She later married Gerrit Fikse.)
