Leonard Smit, 74, of Hull, died Monday at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Services were held Thursday in the First Reformed Church at Hull. The Rev. Gerald Vande Velde officiated. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon.

Mr. Smit was born March 24, 1907, in The Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1911. He married Esther Hulst July 17, 1973, at Sioux Center. They lived in the Doon and Hull area.

Survivors include one son, Leslie of Hull; one daughter, Mrs. Barry (Linda) Bauer of Hull; one brother, John T. of Hull; three sisters, Jacoba Bouwman of Rock Rapids, Cornelia Dykhuizen of Demotte, Indiana and Antonnette Van Tilburg of Rock Valley; and two grandchildren.
