Carey Smit, 34, of Sioux Center died Monday, October 14, at his rural Sioux Center acreage of injuries suffered in a skid-loader accident.

Services were at 2 P.M. Thursday, October 17, in the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Dr. Thurman Rynbrandt officiated. Burial was in the Boyden Cemetery. Family visitation was at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Mr. Smit was born February 23, 1951, in Hull and graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1969. He was employed at Sioux Preme Packing Company in Sioux Center for 12 years. He married Deanna Erickson June 15, 1979, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mr. Smit was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jason Odell and Jeffrey Wade and one Daughter, Stephanie Lynn; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casey Smit of Boyden; one brother, Dennis of Littleton, Colorado, and one sister, Laura Bonestroo of Hull, and a grandmother, Mrs. John E. Vermeer of Boyden
