Maggie Smit, 88, of Hull died Tuesday, September 27, at her residence.

Services were at 1:30 P.M. Friday, September 30, at the First Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Gerald Vander Velde officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery in Hull.

The former Maggie Riemersma was born April 26, 1906, near Newkirk, the daughter of John and Jeltje (Pilot) Riemersma. She attended school through the eighth grade. She married John T. Smit January 30, 1925, in Newkirk. They lived near Hull and moved into Hull in 1953.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church and the Homemakers Club of Hull. She enjoyed crocheting and needlework.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Anthony and Wilmina and Donald and Lucille, all of Hull; three daughters and their husbands, Marguerite and John Valentine of Lakewood, California, Julia and John Vander Ploeg of Sioux Center and Adrianna and Bill Sneller of Kenneth, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Al (June) Broek of Sioux Center; 20 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, John Jr., a daughter-in-law, Gertrude; two sisters; a brother; and a grandson.
