Marinus A. Jansma, 76, of Alton, died Thursday, January 24, in a nursing home in Granger. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home, of Orange City. The Rev. David Johnson of the United Presbyterian Church of Alton officiated. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery at Orange City.

Mr. Jansma was born Feb. 18, 1903, at Newkirk. He married Pearl M. Conry. She died in April of 1946, in Jefferson. He lived in the Hospers, Orange City and Alton areas and operated a dry cleaning business in both Orange City and Alton. He served as justice of the peace in Alton for 15 years before moving to the nursing home in Granger in 1979. He was member of the United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Erwin of Waukee and Richard of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Patricia) Bauer of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gordon of Albert Lea, Minn, and Louis of Pipestone, Minn.
