Services for Elmer R. Van Wyhe, 61, of Ireton, were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig with the Rev. William Gregerson officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. There was a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Maurer Funeral Home in Le Mars. Mr. Van Wyhe died Saturday in a two-car accident southwest of Ireton.

Mr. Van Wyhe was born July 7, 1919 in Sioux County and was a lifelong resident of the Craig-Ireton are. He married Stella Ruiter on July 23, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a farmer, had served in the Navy in World War II and was a member of the Ireton American Legion.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, 'Mrs. John (Brenda) Thoen of Le Mars; four sons, Orrin and Gary, both of Lubbock, Texas, Allen of Greeley, Colo., and Kevin of Sioux City; 11 grandsons; his mother, Mrs. John W. Van Wyhe, Sr. of Ireton; three brothers, John, Robert, and Raymond, all of Ireton; and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Popma of Pipestone, Minn., Mrs. Howard (Viola) Listen of Hawarden and Mrs. Henry (Leona) Koopmans of Ireton.
