Fred W. Heuer, 93, lifelong and widely known resident of Eagle Township, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 16 at the Hawarden Hospital following a prolonged illness. Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dwight Rengstorf officiating. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home.

Fred was the second oldest son of Fredrick Heuer, Sr. and wife, Katherine nee Schlumbohm. Hevwas born on their farm in Eagle Township in Sioux County on March 7,1887. He attended the rural school and at the age of eleven went to work on his father's farm. He became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Ireton where he was baptized and confirmed.

On February 10, 1909 he was united in marriage to Anna Richardson at the farm home. To this union were born 3 sons and 3 daughters. They lived their entire 63 years of wedded life on the same farm. They transferred their membership to Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawarden.

His wife died August 28, 1972. In March of 1974 due to poor health he was taken to the Hillcrest Nursing Home and later to the Morningside Manor at Alcester. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Carl Busch and one son, Wilbur (Bud) Heuer, two brothers, John and William Heuer and 2 sisters, Mrs. Albert Klumb and Mrs. Herman Gradert.

Survivors include two sons; Theodore and Arthur; two daughters, Mrs. James (Vera) Squier and Mrs. George (Donnie) Wood; 2 sisters,, Mrs. Chris (Anna) Westergard and Mrs. Emil (Minnie) Steinfadt, all of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great-grandchildren.
