Funeral services were held at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Rock Valley at 2 p.m. Monday, March 25, for Mrs. Clara Shipman, who passed away March 22, at Fairfield, Iowa. She had broken her hip about two weeks before. Dr. N.A. Price officiated at the services.

Services at the Hoskins Funeral home at Fairfield were held Sunday, March 24, at 3 p.m. with Dr. J. Henry Teele officiating.

Ed Schmidt, Wesley Miller, Judson Smith, J.F. Schutt, Bill Hansen and Frank McGill served as pall bearers at the services in Rock Valley. Interment was in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Clara Miller was born August 7, 1871. She came to Rock Valley as a young woman and established a millinery store which she operated for several years before marrying Howard Shipman. The couple made their home in Rock Valley until Mr. Shipman's death, after which Mrs. Shipman left there to live with her daughter, Mrs. Harriet De Haan, and other children.

She is survived by two daughters, Florence, Mrs. Leslie Davesson, and Harriet, Mrs. F. J. De Haan of Fairfield; one son, Robert of Texas; and several grandchildren.
