Dana B. Anderson, of Sioux City, a former resident of this vicinity, passed away Sunday in a hospital in Coffeyville, Kansas, from pneumonia resulting from burns received July 21st in an explosion of a gas well near Tyro, Kansas. Matt Anderson, his father, and a sister, Mrs. J.H. Danofsky of Sioux City, went to Coffeyville as soon as they were advised of his illness and were with him at the time of his death. His remains were brought to Hawarden, arriving on the early morning train Wednesday. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Big Springs Baptist Church with Rev. B.L. Carlton in charge. Interment was made at Big Springs.

Dana Anderson, son of Matt Anderson of Sioux City, was born in this vicinity March 14, 1904, but for some time past he has lived in Sioux City. Last fall he went to Kansas where he was employed by a drilling company in the oil regions of Kansas and Oklahoma as a carpenter. It was while thus employed that he suffered burns which proved fatal. His mother passed away May 12, 1930. Besides his father he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J.H. Danofsky of Sioux City and Mrs. C.E. Jones of Council Bluffs. He was a nephew of Mrs. C.A. Ericson of this city.
