Geraldine Andersen, 71, of Glendale, Arizona, formerly of Granville, passed away Monday, August 8, 2005, in Glendale following a lengthy illness with COPD.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 18, at Chapel of the Chimes in Glendale. Burial will be in Resthaven Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Andersen was born October 21, 1933, in Hospers, Iowa, the daughter of Vincent and Florentine Penning. She was raised and educated in the Granville area, graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1952. She then moved to Sioux City, where she attended Ellis Cosmetology School, graduating in 1953. She then was employed at Younkers-Davidson Beauty Salon in Sioux City until 1957. She purchased the Modern Beauty Shop in Le Mars, Iowa.

She married Ronald Andersen in 1958. When he got a government job with the Corps of Engineers in Pickstown, South Dakota, she sold the beauty shop and became a domestic engineer.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Randall and his friend, Cheryl of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rodney and his wife, Lorna of Phoenix, Arizona, Robbin McGarvy of Pueblo, Colorado, and Ramona Andersen of Glendale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Corrine and her husband, Chris Reinhardt, Catherine, Charley and Colton McGarvy, of Pueblo, Colorado, and Nathan Andersen of Phoenix, Arizona; a great-grandson, Micah Toler of Pueblo, Colorado; two brothers and their wives, Ronald and Diane Penning of Tucson, Arizona, and Kenneth and Pat Penning of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Marilyn Champion of Lake View, Iowa; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Burkard, Muriel Penning, Helen Harms, Florence Grosenheider and Estella and Willard Herman, all of Le Mars, Iowa, Russell and Marie Andersen of Paullina, Iowa, Vigil an Hazel Johnson of Battle Creek, Iowa, Robert and Darlene Andersen of Sioux City, and Richard Andersen of Burnsville, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Lowell in infancy, Dennis and Lloyd; two sisters, Lois Burkart and Darlene Penning; four brothers-in-law, Martin Champion, Morris Harms, Jerry Andersen and William Grosenheider; a sister-in-law, Marlene Criswell; a nephew; and three nieces.
