Mrs. E. Gaffney passed away Saturday
Deceased had been a Resident of This Community More Than Thirty Years.
Mrs. Edward Gaffney, who has been a resident of this community for more than thirty yeas, died Saturday, July 3rd at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Nolan, after an illness of several weeks duration. She had been in poor health all winter and two months she was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan where she could have the tender care and comfort of a loving and devoted daughter. She- had been confined to her bed for the past five weeks.

Funeral services were held from the Catholic Church in this city at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. Margaret Donahue was born in Jackson County, Iowa, Sept. 6, 1867, She was united in marriage to Edward Gaffney at Lyons, Iowa, Nov. 3, 1876. They resided there until 1889, when they moved to Sioux county and have since made their home in this community.

Three children were born to them, two of whom, Mike Gaffney of Carter, S. D., and Mrs. Joanna Nolan of this city, survive her. Her son came to see her during her last illness, but had returned to his claim near Carter, S. D., prior to her passing and was not able to be present at the funeral. Her husband also survives her. She also leaves one brother, Dan Donahue of North McGregor, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Suber of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. J. F. Clark of Sioux City. Mrs. Gaffney was a devoted wife and mother and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved husband and children. The out of town relatives in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs, B, F, Suber and sons James and Raymond and daughter Florence of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Clark of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Donahue of North McGregor, Iowa; Mrs. B. Donnelly and Mrs. E. Naeve of Sioux City.
