Bertha Fluit, age 93, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 23,2002 at Hegg Memorial Hospital at Rock Valley. Funeral service was held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, with Burial at Valley View Cemetery.

Bertha was born December 29, 1908 in the Netherlands, daughter of Bert and Elizabeth (Uit de Flesh) Korenberg. She came to America to the Boyden, IA area with her family when she was 11 years old. She married William Fluit on August 14, 1929 at Lester, IA. Bertha and William farmed northwest of Inwood, IA until William died August 4, 1972. Bertha moved to Inwood in 1973 where she lived until moving to the Valley Manor at Rock Valley in April of 1999.

Surviving relatives include 3 sons: Bert and wife Beverly, Tuenis W. and wife Leona all of Inwood, Gerald of Rock Valley; three daughters Mrs. Arie (Clazina) Blom and Mrs. John (Bernice) Wiekamp both of Inwood, Mrs. Leonard (Elizabeth) Spaans of Larchwood, Iowa; 2 sisters, Anna Juffer of Doon, IA., Henrietta DeNoble of Hills, MN; sister-in-law Dora Klarenbeek of Rock Valley; 30 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, William; two sons; two brothers; and one sister.
