NOTE: His wife's obit shows her husband name as Gerrit. Her last name is spelled 2 different ways, Van't Hul or Van't Hol.

Funeral services were held at Bethel Christian Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m., Saturday for Geurt Vande Kieft, 87, retired farmer and long-time resident of Sioux Center who passed away at a Cherokee hospital Thursday.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Luke Tamminga and burial was made in the Rock Valley cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vande Kieft was born November 17, 1877 in The Netherlands. He was united in marriage with Minnie Van't Hul on February 15, 1905, and to this union six children were born, all of whom survive him. Mrs. Vande Kieft passed away July 29, 1949.

The children are William of Lynden, WA; Minnie (Mrs. H. Feenstra) of Sibley; Reka (Mrs. J. Sinkey) of Ireton, Wilbert; Gertrude (Mrs. G. Nyhof) and John, all of Sioux Center.

Other survivors include 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Maas of Pipestone, MN; Marinus of Inwood; John of Grand Rapids; Rev. Wm. of Modesto, CA; and Gerrit of Grand Rapids, MI; one sister, Minnie (Mrs. Vogelaar) of Grand Rapids. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Vande Kieft was a charter member of the Reformed church at Steen, MN; and had served as an elder in Steen, at Ireton, at the Bethel church here.

Pall bearers were Harold Vande Kieft, Gilmor Nyhof, Leonard Nyhof, Arthur Sinkey, Howard Franken, Delbert Feenstra.
