Raymond N. Thole, 69, of Alton, died January 9 at an Orange City hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Alton. The Rev. David Hogan officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Rosary was recited by the parish Sunday at the parish hall.

Thole was born April 9, 1916, at Luxemburg, Minnesota, where he was raised and was educated. He married Florence Pottebaum on March 30, 1948, at Alton. Following their marriage, the couple lived in the Alton area. Thole was employed at Alton Rendering Service until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife; two sons Marvin of Gretna, NE, and Steven of Omaha, NE; four daughters, Mary Fryberger of Fullerton, CA; Janet Brown of Waterloo, NE; Darlene Dunklau of Arlington, NE and Michelle at home; two brothers, Al of St. Cloud MN, and Ed of Ashton; five sisters, Evelyn Thole, Josephine Kockler and Leona Burns, all of St. Cloud; Frances Theis of Hospers and Bertha Hayes of San Lorenzo, CA and eight grandchildren.
