Sioux Center News, August 4, 1949

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. G. Vande Kieft of Sioux Center, at 1 o'clock from the home and 1:30 from the 2nd Reformed Church, Sioux Center, Rev. J. Breuker officiated with burial in the Rock Valley cemetery. Mrs. Vande Kieft died at her home Friday evening at 9 o'clock having suffered a heart attack. She had been ill about a year and a half with a heart ailment.

Willempje Van't Hol was born in Ede, The Netherlands, the 13th of November, 1880. When she was eight years old her parents came to America and they brought Willempje with them. In 1905 she was married to Mr. Gerrit Vande Kieft who now survives. They were the parents of six children: William of Lynden, Washington; Mieny (Mrs. H. Freenstra) of Sibley, IA; Rika (Mrs. J. Sinke) of Ireton, IA; Wilbert, Gerty (Mrs. G. Nyhof), and John all of Sioux Center; also 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother, John Van't Hol of Alton, and three sisters, Mrs. John Van Hill of Holland, Minn.; Mrs. Hattie Reinder of Orange City, and Mrs. Henry Vande Berg of Doon.

Mrs. Vande Kieft was a member of the Ladies Aid Society until two weeks ago when she resigned because of ill health. In 1941 Mr. & Mrs. Vande Kieft retired from farming and moving in from Ireton, have since made their home in Sioux Center.
