Stellingwerf, Melle J. 1871- 1939

Melle J. Stellingwerf passed away quietly in the Hull Hospital Monday at 11:30 a.m. He had been ailing for a number of years and confined to the hospital since last January 19. Several times during the late summer he was well enough to drive to Sioux Center for a short visit, but for the past few months he has gradually failed. He was 68 years at the time of his passing.

The funeral services will be held Thursday, November 23, from the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Brunsting officiating. The body will be interred in the Middleburg cemetery where the rest of his family were buried before. Melle leaves no immediate relatives, except some nieces and nephews.

Melle Stellingwerf was born in Vriesland, Netherlands, and came to the U.S. with his family at the age of 8. They lived for many years on a farm near Middleburg. In 1914 Melle moved to Sioux Center with his mother and sister. They preceded him in death.
