Funeral services for Arie Steenhoven, 74, who died at his home March 7, were held Saturday afternoon at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, with Rev. Docter of Hospers and Rev. A.J. Newhouse officiating.

Mrs. Gerrit Reekers, with Garnet Reckers as accompanist, sang a Dutch psalm and “Going Down the Valley” . Pallbearers were Leo Monster, Ben Den Hartog, Albert Roetman Jr., Martin Talsma, Rein Talsma and Case Hendyke.

Steenhoven was born in Holland June 16, 1876 and came to America as a young man. He farmed for many years in Hospers vicinity.

His first wife, Marie Ver Mulm, died in 1914. In 1948 he married Mrs. Hattie Vanderbosch of Sioux Center, who survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Charlie of Sibley, Arthur and Herman of Ruthland, Minnesota; one daughter, Mrs. Ike (Jennie) Mulder of Larchwood; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, six step-children and three brothers living in Holland.
