Dave Storts, 70, who spent all his life in Hawarden and vicinity, died in his home in the north part of town last Friday. Mr. Storts had been in poor health for a number of years.

He came to Calliope from Union county with his parents when a child and located in what then was known as Calliope. For 65 years he lived in this home. Following the death of his parents, his sister, Miss Lettie Storts, kept house for him.

David Seldon Storts, son of Leander and Sarah Storts, was born in Union county September 15, 1881. In his younger days he was engaged in farming.

A number of years ago he was baptized by Rev. T.A. Ambler and joined the Presbyterian church.

He was one of a family of 11 children, seven of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by a sister, Miss Lettie Storts of Hawarden and two brothers, William Storts of Silverton, Oregon, and John Storts of Grand Island, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral Home with Rev. B. Roy Brown officiating. John Tilgner, with Mrs. P.W. Peters sang two numbers. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Out of town relatives who came for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Storts and Mrs. Clifford Arnett and daughter of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mrs. Vernice Duncan and son and daughter of Ortonville, Minnesota and Mrs. Joe Case of Huron, South Dakota.
