Died: July 5, 1956 Hospers, IowaFuneral services for Edward Van Zandbergen of Hospers, Iowa, who died Thursday, July 5, were held Saturday, July 7, with services at 1:00 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church of Hospers with Rev. A. Hellenga officiating. Burial was in the Hospers Cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Service in charge.
Pallbearers were Joe Hoffs, Henry De Haan, Elden Boone, Henry Roos, John Schuller and James Huygens.
Ed Van Zandbergen was born in The Netherlands on May 1, 1886. He came to America with his parents in 1887 and lived in Sioux County. On Feb. 10, 1909, he was united in marriage to Kate Vande Berg near Newkirk. To this union were born the following: Herman, who died May 4, 1937; Tracy (Mrs. Henry Jacobsma) of Boyden; Sophia (Mrs. John Holtrop) of Sheldon; and Ted of Rockwell City. There are nine grandchildren. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by four brothers; Otto of Sioux City, John of Alton, Nick of Grand Rapids ,Michigan, and Arie of Orange City; three sisters; Bertha (Mrs. Martin Dykstra) of Alton, Gertie (Mrs. John Hyink) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Clara (Mrs. Gary Scholten) of Alton. One infant brother preceded him. The Van Zandbergens spent their entire life in the Hospers vicinity, except for 13 years in the Dakotas.
